About time fleeting

Have you ever noticed that time is unstable? Remember how it seemed long and endless for us in childhood? It felt like time didn’t pass by. Each holiday lasted forever, as did each sudden street conversation of adults. You hung around and thought there was nothing in the world but your city, your granny, her huge hands (often giving you sweets) and the windows of your house.

me, 5 years old

Now time flies. And you need to run to catch up with it. Run to work, to meetings, to school, to pay important bills!!! In this rush, it’s easy to get fooled and start running away from yourself. Faster and faster each year.

Therefore, it is so important at least sometimes to stop and remember the feeling of child’s delight and awe of the future.
Allow yourself to be outside the stereotypes, outside the framework, out of time, but only in harmony with yourself. And you will always be on time ✨

  1. Such wonderful thoughts, and you’re right! We all need to slow down a little and enjoy all the blessings that are given to us.

  2. To a child, a year is a very long time. If you are ten years old,a year is 10% of your entire life. Maybe 20% of the life you have any memory of. When you hit 60, it is only 2%. of the total and 3% of what you remember As you age the years seem shorter because each one is a proportionately smaller hunk of your experienced life.

  3. Such a beautiful reflection, with the detail of your granny’s hands and what they did to the busy life you lead now. Yes we all need to stop take a breath and let time pass slowly again. Thank you for sharing. Lovely picture of you as a child.

“outside the framework, out of time”

You can’t! And there exists even a very simple scientific “explainification” (G.W.Bush) for that: For a, say, 6 y/o kid 1 year makes up a whole 6th of his life. It’s a loooong time. They haven seen snow only 5 times, only lived thru 6 summers.

For us 50 plus adults 1 year is only a 50th of our lifetime. Hardly noticable. Plus, let’s not forget, every season, every festivity, every celebration, any anniversary, you’ve done already more than 50 times. You went skiing 50 times, you went surfing 50 times. It’s getting same old – same old. Boring. 😐

That’s why it seems that time is fleeting by.

  6. The speed of time at age 74 is giving me whiplash. I started this comment on June 12 but by the time I hit “post,” it was already June 13.

    we are time
    in our short time
